The flood risk report is requested by the Malta Planning Authority for proposed developments located in areas that are known to be prone to flooding.
By having a flood risk report drawn up by a competent engineer, the property developer or business owner will become aware of the risks involved, and can take any necessary mitigation measures to avoid the risk of flooding.
In fact, similar to the other types of engineer’s reports that are requested by the Malta Planning Authority and by other entities such as the Civil Protection Department, the Enemalta, the Building and Construction Authority, and others, the benefit is that the business owner is foreseeing the risks to property and to the enterprise, and can discuss options of how to lower or remove that risk with the engineer.
