Our Services

Our services are not lifted out of textbooks and guides. We have created a range of premium products with special features and superior benefits, all designed using the latest technology, to guarantee the best results for you and your investment.

Our platform of products supports 4 types of product packages – building design, technical assessment, compliance certification and monitoring, but we can also accommodate specific requests that can be handled in our ‘testing garage’.

Building services design

When it comes to the design of building services, we are truly the most reliable one-stop shop you can find.

Our ability to offer design services for as many building services systems as you may need – think air-conditioning including cooling, heating and humidity control, indoor heating systems, ventilation systems, including demand control, filtration, and room pressure control, firefighting and suppression, fire detection and alarm systems, plumbing systems including water treatment, irrigation systems and water features, such as fountains, streams and even waterfalls, electrical power distribution, including generators and UPS, lighting design including simulations and daylight essentials, renewable energy systems, such as photovoltaic panels and solar water heaters, lightning protection, data distribution, telephony and TV systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, building management systems (BMS), lifts and escalators, and acoustic barriers.

Risk assessment and control

No sensible person buys a ticket for a flight with an airline that has a very poor safety track record. And if there’s a way to drive around a slippery patch on the road and still make it in time to the destination, we all want to know how. Being familiar with the risks that can break your business and knowing how to remove or at least control them is the first and most important step you need to take.

The purpose behind a number of risk assessment and management reports that we perform – for fire safety, ventilation, electrical power demand, lightning, noise, fume emissions, fuel storage, and flooding – is exactly that. Using the most recent international and national standards and legislation, we identify the risks, weigh the probability of failure, and advise you on mitigation and control measures that can be implemented in a cost-effective way.

Impact assessment

Whether for environment, sustainability, or strategic purpose, the method for an impact assessment is much the same – it is a process of building on a knowledge of what is required to create and sustain the new development, while hitting the right buttons – high impact for positive consequences, and low impact for negative ones.

We have experience in conducting, either as a single entity or as part of a team, impact assessments of various types – high-level strategic assessments as an aid to master plans, and environmental impact assessments for noise, agricultural resources, waste, greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), and infrastructure.

The real value, however, is in our ability to offer you insights on possible outcomes and ways of mitigating areas of concern.

Energy efficiency assessment

The real value of energy efficiency assessment tools lies in their ability to identify energy that is being wasted and to identify means by which that energy can be saved. When used properly, such tools can result in a benefit that may be quantified in financial terms.

Our team of certified assessors will provide you with the necessary certificates and reports in compliance to the legal requirements, but in addition and more importantly, they can guide you through practical recommendations for energy savings in your home and energy improvement opportunities in your business, whether it is a small commercial space, or larger-scale industrial operation. In addition, we have the resources to simulate scenarios and draw cost benefit analysis of energy saving opportunities. We do this with a critical eye and do our best to quantify both positive and negative effects of energy interventions.

Speak to us about your requirement for any of the following mandatory energy efficiency assessments or your customised needs.

  • External energy audits for non-SME’s in line with ISO 50002 and in accordance to the provisions of legal notice 196 of 2014
  • External energy audits for SME’s and micro-enterprises
  • External energy management consulting services (non-audit)
  • Energy certification services for air-conditioning and heating systems in line with legal notice 376 of 2012 as required by the Building Regulation Office (BRO)
  • Energy certification services for dwellings (energy performance certificate for residential buildings)
  • Energy certification services for non-dwellings (energy performance certificate for commercial premises)
  • Building thermal simulations and analysis

Compliance certification

Put simply, a compliance certificate is a document that shows that all the requirements that would have been identified in the design and assessment documents have been satisfied and that the system complies to relevant national legislation, policies, and standards. Again, the value of compliance certification is not simply as a key to start operating; it is a means to ascertain that major risks have been dealt with and that you can operate with greater peace of mind. At Sammut & Associates, our strengths in compliance certification match our areas of expertise and we are particularly specialised in fire safety, ventilation, lighting, noise and fume emissions systems.

Monitoring

As engineers, we are not only fascinated by the way things work, but also by the performance of systems over time, and even more so, by how these systems effect functional and comfortable living. This is the essence of monitoring with a purpose. The aim of measuring and recording data, over a period of time, of parameters such as noise, temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide levels, etc., is to assess whether the levels are acceptable and within limits for health, safety and comfort, to identify the source of the problem and take corrective action if they are not.

The need for monitoring may be triggered by a specific legislative requirement, such as the noise directive and the occupational health and safety legislation, or reports of complaints by occupants such as feelings of discomfort or symptoms of being unwell; whatever the case, we can help you identify the problem and address it as quickly as possible.
