Our clients, a residents’ association of people living in a seaside hamlet, entrusted Sammut & Associates to conduct careful monitoring of the noise levels over a relatively long period, in order to support with evidence their claim that the amusement park was a source of nuisance for them and their families.
What we offered were measurements of noise emitted from the park on a number of different days, recording variations in levels, and comparing with a baseline situation and noise emission standards and regulations.
The study was subsequently used by the residents’ association to enter into negotiations with the entertainment park owner, and to discuss methods of noise control that would improve the quality of life of the residents. This was one of those instances where we witness scientific evidence being applied for the well-being of the community.
