Energy performance certification of an industrial site

One of our clients, a large producer of pharmaceuticals based in Malta, needed to obtain Energy Performance Certification for leased premises in Ħal Far industrial estate. This, however, was not your standard EPC for commercial buildings, as the assessment needed to integrate the energy consumption and energy efficiency performance of a very complex building services plant, that supplies production zones in different sites.

At Sammut & Associates, our state-registered assessors worked in collaboration with the architect in charge of the assessment of the building envelop to obtain the needed certification within the stipulated time.

Our approach, which allowed for mathematical grouping of different zones, meant that we could overcome the limitations imposed by the software so that the manufacturing company would obtain certification and be compliant with regulatory standards. We were also able to include some recommendations on possible methods of energy reduction.
